Important things to know when interacting with Agron:
If you want it, this is a link to his page on the Spartacus Wiki. Here there be spoilers. No, I really mean it. Don't read it if you have any intention of watching the show, it will ruin the nail-biting horror of "Does my favorite character live through another episode?" that the show is so good at. (Hint, the answer to that question is "Probably not" and most pages on the Spartacus wiki will spoil you for half the deaths in the series.)
- He is illiterate. He recognizes his own name and his brother's name in Latin script, and that's about it.
- His fingers are half-paralyzed. In general, he is capable of doing things like scooping motions, but cannot maintain a firm grip.
- He's from 71 BC. Don't be surprised if he has no idea what you're talking about. Fortunately, he's probably too pigheaded to ask for any explanations.
- He's swears constantly as part of his natural vocabulary. Canon also dictates that he has a weird speech pattern and will use truly vulgar metaphors when incensed. It's not personal and he's probably not even angry. If it ever seems like I'm exaggerating, I'm not. That's not even all of them.

➳ HISTORICAL
Jan. 16th, 2015 05:10 pm- For my own sanity, I've decided that Agron's specific origin is Cimbri and thus his native language is Elbe Germanic (Irminonic)***, though it's worth noting that as of 71 BC that was mutually intelligible with Istvaeonic and Ingvaeonic, but not North Germanic or East Germanic. Basically, if you're from around where modern Germany or Denmark is, he'll be able to understand you. If you're from closer to modern Poland or Sweden, he won't.
- ***, meaning "history isn't 100% positive that the Cimbri spoke a Germanic language because Roman historians cannot be assed to properly separate foreign ethnic groups". But, the most popular theory is that it was indeed Germanic, so I'm going with that, considering that Agron canonically speaks a Germanic language and Cimbri makes too much sense as an origin for him for me to pick a different tribe.
- However, he'll be using Vulgar Latin for all threads unless otherwise specified and magical bullshit translation will operate off that.
- I'll be using the reconstructed Proto-Germanic names for his gods (Wōdanaz, Frijjō, Teiwaz, Þunraz, etc). While it's technically inaccurate because Proto-Germanic was never a real language and also because if it was it would have been well before Agron's time, but it's more accurate than using the Old High German names.
- A link to Tacitus' Germania, also for my own sanity.
- Disclaimer: I'm lousy at history and new to RPing from historical fiction. I'm trying here.
➳ PERMISSIONS
Jan. 21st, 2014 04:46 pmBacktagging: Always
Threadhopping: Probably, if it's appropriate.
Fourthwalling: Fictionally, no (not allowing "I SAW YOU ON TV"), but historically, yes-- Agron was a general in the Third Servile War and characters with knowledge of Roman history will probably recognize the names Spartacus, Oenomaus, Crixus, and Gannicus when Agron mentions them in passing. Agron will likely be pleased with the knowledge that the war went down in history, unless someone tells him that his deeds got recorded under Castus' name. (please do that, it'll be funny)
Offensive subjects: None
Hugging this character: Sure, reactions may vary with CR and alcohol intake.
Kissing/etc this character: You're free to try, but his reactions will likely range from 'attempting to leave as fast as possible' (women) to 'I have a lover' (men).
Fighting with this character: So long as you understand that Agron may actually try to kill your character-- he's spent his entire life fighting in wars with a stint as a gladiator, doesn't tend to be merciful outside training situations, and has taken enough lives that one more won't bother him.
Injuring this character (include limits and severity): No permanent disabilities-- the one he has is enough. Otherwise, go nuts, he's been through worse.
Killing this character: Message me and we'll talk-- the closer he is to death, the more likely he is to attempt something truly stupid out of nowhere, so threading will be unpredictable.
Using telepathy/mind reading abilities on this character: Sure! Either message me or mention it in the tag and I'll throw what he's thinking up for you in my next post.
Warnings: Cussing and extensive use of foul metaphors such as "spewing shit from mouth" (meaning lying/false words/flattery), excessive violence and Blood Knight tendencies, likely to mention various unpleasant historical customs such as bride kidnapping and human sacrifice.
